Colorful Edgartown Cottage Waiting for Summer

Guys -- its coming. Daylight savings. This Sunday. Its going to be light out until like 7pm! It is the most underrated holiday (yes, holiday, because I celebrate it) on the calendar because long days are coming! Thus begins my countdown to my other favorite super-underrated holiday, Memorial Day, the official start of summer (in my book). So in honor of this momentous occasion and my countdown, let's have an ogle at this sunny and bright Martha's Vineyard "cottage" by Patrick Ahearn and his team!

Located on Cottage Street in downtown Edgartown, MA, this pristine white and green home is prim and perfect.

The windowed breezeway between the main house and the garage is beautiful and exemplary of the Ahearn team's work.

Lanterns? Check. Window boxes? Check. Whale tail door knocker? I die.

You'd better believe this house is stuffed to the hilt with nautical details. The yacht style floors are a favorite touch. Cobalt blue woodwork is present throughout the house and is so happy and fun.

The living room is both sophisticated and bubbly with the omnipresent cobalt woodwork, straw colored grasscloth wallpaper, and delightful Delft style tiles around the fireplace.

The bright white kitchen features a colbalt blue island and is open to the family room.

Keep a weather-eye out (as we sailors say), because all the cabinet handles and drawer pulls are nautical cleats! Its a leeeeettle bit "on the nose" but also so freaking cute so who cares.

The family room off the kitchen is enlivened by Quadrille print armchairs. Also, I aodre the contrast welting on the sofa.

The family room has tri-fold french doors (really cool!!) opening to an outdoor living space complete with fireplace! Don't miss the lacquer backgammon table in the back left corner.

A mudroom off the kitchen and that outdoor living space is clearly the crossroads of the home. I am dying over the cobalt blue newell posts and balusters -- just such a fun and impactful choice.

Those fabulous blue mudroom stairs lead to another great family space. I love that this house is so kid-friendly without being silly. The blue tape trim on the custom sisal makes all the difference. Beadboarded eaves continue the nautical vibe.

Striped pennyround tile floors. I am obsessed. I want them in every bathroom. The double sink is so vintage and fun. And, of course, more cleats!

You knew the boat bed was coming. You knew it. Deep in your soul. LOVE the cobalt painted floor.

An upstairs den has a little chic-er vibe with its Audoux Minet style rope armchairs (tres French riviera!) and pops of orange.

The rear elevation of the house is clad in cedar shake, as opposed to the white clapboard of the facade. Its also freaking gorgeous. Don't miss the whale weather vane!

The pool and spa area is capped by a little poolhouse and outdoor shower.

Siiiiiiiiiiigh. How many days til Memorial Day weekend? 89, but who's counting. Me, clearly. I'm counting. Until then, let's start enjoying the longer days and daydreaming of colorful cottages on the Vineyard!
