These 90-degree temperatures have me dreaming of Palm Beach. This charming clapboard home decorated by Leta Austin Foster is currently for sale and boy oh boy is it a stunner. Charming and stylish, this Palm Beach home is tasteful and beautiful. Let's poke around!
I'm not a Mediterranean style house person, so I love a classic clapboard home down in Florida. And the pale blue and white is so graceful and happy.
The foyer features a small scale diamond pattern floor, paneled dado wall, and subtle striped wallpaper. Even though I usually like a bombastic foyer, this is like a breath of fresh air on a warm beach day.
The sitting room is a prep classic space that's elegant and comfortable. A pair of armchairs and a love seat are upholstered in a beautiful chintz. The curved pelmets with swirling trim are a total dream. And I love the tortoise waterfall style coffee table and the joyous pop of that loop Elkins chair (complete with striped seat cushion).
The den is at once cozy and light. Of course I am obsessed with the pair of red Ming style cabinets flanking the sofa. The columns to the left separate this area from the dining room space.
Gah! Is there anything not completely charming about this dining room? The wheel back chairs with their gently skirted cushions, the white washed beamed ceiling, the pedestal table, the palest blue painted paneling details on the walls, the matching blue draperies, the hint of black from the metal lantern sconces?? I die. Leave me here.
The vaulted master bedroom is a breathy European trifle in white in and blue. I am obsessed with floral tole chandeliers (I've always had one in my bedroom) and I'm happy to see one here. Scalloped pelmets are always a good thing too.
This blue and white guest bedroom continues the totally patrician and lightly Scandinavian feel of the home. Not to be a grandma, but I adore the matching wallpaper, bedskirts, and window treatments - especially in such a classic, floral trellised pattern. Obviously that blue and white faux bamboo pagoda style lantern is pulling on my heart strings.
Guys. Guys, guys, guys, guys. THIS is crushing me. Crazy old school, rattan furniture with crazy old school chintz cushions (omg is is glazed chintz?? That would be killerrrr), blue and white striped lamp shades, red ming chest coffee table?? Aw yis.
Yes, two pictures of this killer space. Here you can see the bamboo roman shades on the french door and windows, lovely built ins (yes, let that TV show!), awesome beamed ceiling, pale pale icy blue-grey trim, and adorably perfect accessories (hello green cabbage Majolica plates).
And, oh yeah, besides the understated and wonderful interiors, the exterior of this home is a total stunner. Climbing vines, trellis pattern patio, lovely pool with a hint of cobalt tile trim? Yes please, I'll take it.
